Recently our PTA approved the purchase of IXL for our PK-5 students. IXL offers licenses for PK-5 Math, and 2-5 ELA, and students can access the unlimited questions and skill practice in the classroom and at home. Today, I rolled out IXL during our district's MTSS (Multi-tiered Systems of Support) professional development. Teachers were introduced to the program, walked through how to set up their classes, and given the parent letters to pass out tomorrow. We plan on using IXL as part of our MTSS interventions, as it provides unlimited practice opportunities for students on any Common Core standard, and explains incorrect answers. Some teachers plan on using it as part of their daily math rotations, while others will use it as an independent practice or "when I'm done" option. With IXL accounts, teachers are able to view 37 reports including student proficiency on a standard and the time students spend on a specific skill. I look forward to seeing IXL's impact on student learning this year, and hearing teacher and student impressions!
